Bar Crawl 9/11/15-9/13/15
Hey gurls! This weekend is all about throwing on a fierce look, maybe topping it off with a wig, painting on a little eyeshadow or lipstick, and heading out with your crew for an unbeweavable weekend. Follow my lead and you can’t go wrong!
Kick off your weekend with me and The Culture Whore at our monthly party, Boop, which booped Lovegun and is now at Macri Park, Williamsburg’s newest gay bar! It’s the grand re-opening of Macri and we’re really popping off, with shows by Charlene and Big Dipper, tunes by Will Sheridan and Nita Aviance, and a serious fashion week moment from TillyandWilliam. And it’s all FREE!
Wake up early on Saturday and start beating you mug for Bushwig! The annual festival of drag, music, and love returns for its fourth year at a new space, Ridgewood’s Onderdonk house, which is apparently a huge outdoor space that’ll play up Bushwig’s festie vibes. The iconic Lady Bunny is joining Brooklyn drag royalty like Merrie Cherry, Charlene, Horrchata, Untitled Queen, and more for a carry you won’t forget. $40 weekend passes are available!
After a day at the festival, take a disco nap, re-adjust your wig, and head to Brooklyn’s queer community center, The Spectrum, for an all-night Bushwig after party ki: Ova the Rainbow! The theme this month is UNBEWEAVABLE so if you don’t have any fake hair you’re basically the worst and will be shamed—just kidding!
Have a cute brunch moment to feed your hangover, then head back to the Onderdonk House for another day of drag shenanigans at Bushwig! With over 150 queens and 20 musical acts, Sunday should be just as full of hairspray, love, and shade.
